UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR
Kyiv Security Forum, 8-9 May, 2025
On August 23, 1939, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union signed their infamous pact of non-aggression. Nine days later, World War II began with the invasion of Poland.
That war would engulf 61 nations – 80% of the world’s population – and claim up to 75 million lives. More than 110 million soldiers were sent to the front.
Ukraine became one of the war’s bloodiest battlefields.
By the war’s end, Ukraine’s population had dropped from nearly 41 million to 27 million. Between 8 and 10 million Ukrainians perished – nearly one in four. Nearly 700 cities and 28,000 villages were destroyed. Its cultural treasures were looted.
Yet Ukraine did not surrender.
7 million Ukrainians fought in the Red Army.
120,000 joined the Polish Army.
80,000 served in U.S. forces.
45,000 in Canada’s.
5,000 in France’s.
And hundreds of thousands resisted in the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and as partisans.
Ukraine bled for the Allied victory.
And the free world prevailed because it stood united.

Today, Ukraine faces another global aggressor.
Putin’s Russia is the 21st century’s version of fascism – imperialist, genocidal, and determined to destroy the foundations of international order.
This is not only Ukraine’s war.
This is a war against the free world.
That is why the Kyiv Security Forum calls on the world:
UNITE AGAIN.
Unite the United States and Europe in common resolve.
Unite the democratic world against the imperialist threat.
Unite Ukraine for victory.
Eighty years ago, we stood together to defeat a global aggressor.
We must achieve victory again.
